JEANLUKE ZAMMIT
Multimedia Designer
Video Editor
Video Editing is a field which I have been experiencing ever since 2009 as a hobby on YouTube where I have made several videos over the years on three YouTube channels all operated by myself.
In 2014 I went to MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts, where I've begun pursuing Video Editing more professionally. During my time studying Video Editing I've gotten accustomed to more professional editing software then what I've used prior to my studies.
Now Iam currently working with a wedding company as a video editor and last year I've worked with a local Television station where I've edited various news features.
Tools I Use

Final Cut Pro X

Adobe Premiere Pro

Adobe After Effects
The Confrontation
The Confrontation is a short film I've created while learning how to create Motion Graphics and Visual Effects during my 2nd year of Creative Media Production.
I opted to make a short film in order to make the process more interesting. Before that idea came to be I panned on making two videos:
-
One would depict two boys rushing towards each other while trying to strike an energy ball and lightning punch at each other
-
The other one would depict a boy sitting down, where he shortly afterwards gets up and flies in the sky (Dragon Ball Z style). Eventually the two were combined into one.
Breakdown of Effects
Gaming Underground Promo Video
This video was created during my 3rd year at MCAST where we learned a bit about the traits in Creative Media.
The aim of this video was to create a 1 minute feature with any theme of our choice while including some VFX and Motion Graphics (Similarly to The Confrontation).
I opted to create a promotional video containing a voice-over made by myself for a fictitious gaming YouTube channel called Gaming Underground.
NES Identity Video
Similarly to the Gaming Underground Promo Video, This video was created during my 3rd year at MCAST where we learned a bit about the traits in Creative Media.
The aim here was to create a 3 minute feature on the theme of "Identity". The topic of identity could be our our liking (ex: a person, a city, a book etc)
Since I am a life long gamer I made a video describing the identity of one of my favourite video game consoles, the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES in short)
I edited the video to have effects which would be present in an NES game, such as the rough fade and the beginning and the speech boxes.
NIKE - "Together is Forward" Persuasive Advert
DISCLAIMER: DOES NOT OFFICIALLY REPRESENT NIKE!
NIKE - "Together is Forward" is a persuasive advert created to understand how companies persuade others to buy their products in a creative fashion. The decision to use a popular brand such as NIKE came to understand corporate identity more easily.
Multiple ideas were thought of for the advert but the final idea was to have multiple sports activities happen in reverse where everyone would then meet up in one place to tie their shoes and walk towards the camera.
In the final video the meeting part was scrapped but everything else was left intact.
NIKE - "Let's Do It!" Social Action Campaign
DISCLAIMER: DOES NOT OFFICIALLY REPRESENT NIKE!
NIKE - "Lets Do It!" is a Social Action Campaign video created so as to understand how companies such as NIKE contribute to society by aiming to create positive change and enhance their public image.
The idea to focus on the issue of obesity was due to the fact that it is a huge issue in Malta (In fact Maltese Men are the most obese in Europe) and that awareness needed to the spread about said issue.
While planning the video the idea was to present the issue in a creative that isn't just stating facts then how it can be improved, although in the end that approach had to be taken due to not being able to come up with other ideas in time.
KAGE Short Film
KAGE is a short film I created during my year at MCAST so as to understand how films are created, from the story-writing, camera work to the editing.
Due to me not having experience with story-writing at the time (and the same for my crew members) the decision to create a horror film came around due to belief that it would be easy to make.
The Rematch Trailer
The Rematch is a trailer for a short which would act as a follow up to The Confrontation, an earlier short film I have created a few years prior.
The main focus was to implement animations in live action footage, so I opted to replace the standard sky with animated clouds which had a small animation which was implemented with built in effects in Adobe After Effects.
Breakdown of Effects
Compositing Showreel
Not strictly related to Video Editing, this very short clip is a compilation of various short sequences which have various effects applied to them, including set extension, blurred faces and green screen keying.
All effects applied within Adobe After Effects and edited together with Final Cut Pro X.
